Weekend crime rundown: Five people struck by gunfire, including 14-year-old girl
At least two people were killed and three more people were injured – including a 14-year-old girl – in four separate shootings over the weekend.
A man was killed in the Mantua section of West Philadelphia early Saturday morning. Officers found the 25-year-old laying inside the Easy Corner Bar at 537 N. 35th Street shortly before 12:40 a.m. He had been shot multiple times and died at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. The man’s identity has not yet been released.
A 14-year-old girl was shot in Crescentville shortly before 9:40 p.m. last night. Officers responding to a report of a person with a gun in a rear driveway on the 500 block of East Cheltenham Avenue found the girl lying on the ground about a block away, behind the 500 block of Rosalie Street.
The teen had been shot in the leg and chest, according to investigators. She was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center, where she is currently in stable condition.
Two men were shot on the 2700 block of Tasker Street in Grays Ferry shortly after 11:30 p.m. last night. Police said one man, 28, was shot in the leg and is hospitalized in stable condition. The second man, 32, was shot in the stomach and is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
A 27-year-old man was killed on the 2600 block of North Stanley Street in Strawberry Mansion early this morning. Officers found the victim lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest shortly before 2:20 a.m. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Investigators have not yet made any arrests in this weekend’s shootings, and no suspects or motives have been disclosed.
