Philly judge refuses to lift Meek Mill’s travel ban, quashing tour plans

A judge during a status hearing today refused to lift a travel ban for 25-year-old Robert Williams, better known as rapper Meek Mill.
The ruling ensured that Williams will not be able to travel to Africa in January on a previously-planned tour promoting his “Dreams and Nightmares” album released Oct. 30.
The restrictions were handed down after Williams missed a mandatory court date in late October. Such regular appearances are part of his probation terms following a 2008 conviction of assault, firearms offenses and drug charges.
Though Williams claimed he failed to appear because he was trapped in New York City and unable to travel due to Hurricane Sandy, he was detained that night during a car stop in North Philadelphia and tweeted pictures of himself from a police substation.

No charges were filed against Williams in connection with that incident.
