A pair of shoes that once belonged to King of Pop Michael Jackson were stolen early this morning from a Center City hotel.

Police said officers were called to the Loews Hotel at 1200 Market Street, which was hosting the 19th annual Hair O’ The Dog Auction, around 2 a.m. for a report of a theft.

The hotel security team told investigators that they had been handling an incident at one end of a second-floor hallway. When they returned to the floor’s other side, they found that a pair of autographed Michael Jackson shoes and their certificate of authenticity had gone missing.

Hotel and private security surveyed the area, but found nothing. There were approximately 2,000 attendees at the auction.

There is no information on a possible suspect at this time. The exact value of the shoes has not yet been disclosed, though police did say they were considered a “high priced item.”
