A 22-year-old Boston man arrested after a car chase and foot pursuit through Mattapan that was sparked by a fatal shooting.

Officers were called to 24 Woodruff Way in Mattapan just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived they found a man w ho was shot multiple times. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Other officers responding to the call noticed a brown car speeding. Given the car’s high rate of speed and proximity to the crime scene, officers tried to pull it over, but the driver did not stop, according to police.

After a short car chase, the driver eventually pulled over and three men jumped out of the car and fled on foot. Officers were able to chase down and arrest one of the suspects. Officers retraced the path of the foot chase and found a discarded loaded gun.

Police charged Osmell Odena with illegal gun possession and illegal possession of ammunition.

Police are still investigating the murder. Anyone with information can call 617-343-4470.
