Philadelphia marathon dates changed due to green building conference

Dates for the race have been moved ahead.

Not so fast, Philly.

On its Facebook page Tuesday The Philadelphia Marathon announced it changed the dates of all three races: the marathon and half marathon will change from Nov. 24 to Nov. 17, and the Rothman 8k run will move from Nov. 23 to Nov. 16.

The original dates overlapped with the U.S. Green Building Council’s 2013 conference, which is planned from Nov. 15 to 23 at the Convention Center. The Philadelphia Marathon has traditionally been held the weekend before Thanksgiving.

The change could affect hotel, plane and restaurant reservations as the 2013 dates had already been announced. Registration for the races opens April 1.
