Suspected DUI crash kills Wissinoming woman

A woman, who police have identified as 58-year-old Teresa Marquard of the 6100 block of Gillespie Street in Wissinoming, was killed this morning after an allegedly drunk driver struck her while she was on the sidewalk.

Police said Marquard was walking on the 5700 block of Frankford Avenue when, shortly after 9:30 a.m., a 33-year-old man driving a green Pontiac minivan jumped the curb and slammed into Marquard before hitting a tree.

Marquard was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital with head trauma and died a short time later. The driver, who did not leave the scene, is in critical condition at Hahnemann. Police said he is currently under investigation for a DUI, but no charges have yet been filed.

Shootings hospitalize three people

A man is in stable condition after a shooting early Saturday morning on the 3900 block of the Roosevelt Boulevard in Bustleton. Police said the victim, 21, was shot in the left leg around 12:30 a.m. and rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center.

A woman, 34, is also hospitalized in stable condition after being shot in the shoulder early this morning during an unrelated crime in North Philadelphia. Police said gunfire rang out at Stillman and Somerset streets around 2:30 a.m. The victim is receiving treatment at Temple University Hospital.

A third victim is in critical but stable condition after he was this afternoon shot in the face and back on a Kensington street. Police said someone opened fire on the 33-year-old man shortly after 2:30 p.m. near Kensington Avenue and Cambria Street.
