Dubai family stranded in U.S. after losing passports in the MBTA
A Dubai resident and former Massachusetts General Hospital doctor has been stranded in the U.S. since Tuesday when a bag containing cash, tickets and his family’s passports went missing from the MBTA Wonderland Station.
The backpack contained four United Arab Emirates passports belonging to Dr. Zeeshan Khan and his family, about $3,500 in US currency, e-tickets for their flight home, Khan’s international driver’s license and personal clothing when it was stolen about 5 p.m.
In a press conference Wednesday, Khan said, “So now I’m missing all of that and I suddenly feel stranded and lonely in this big country, and I’m just hoping some good soul gets it back to me.”
There are no leads on how the bag disappeared or who may have taken it, police said. Khan told reporters he brought his family to the U.S. to tour Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was honored with a plaque.
“Dr. Khan says the person who took the bag can keep the cash and tickets – no questions asked. He just wants the passports returned,” said MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo.
Transit Police said they looked at surveillance video taken at Beachmont Station, Revere Beach Station and Wonderland Station, but did not see anyone carrying the black bag.
