Transit Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole a $4,000 flute from a Berklee College of Music student last month.

The 21-year-old student told police she placed the flute on a bench at Park Street MBTA Station around 11:40 a.m. on March 25, and mistakenly left it there as she boarded a train.

Surveillance cameras captured a man pick up the flute and board the next train, according to Transit Police.

If you know this man, you can: Call Transit Police at 617-222-1050, give an anonymous tip with the TPD See Say app, or text 873873.

The student is devastated, police said, because she is on a scholarship.

According to a statement on the Transit Police’s blog, “as part of the scholarship agreement she needs the instrument to fulfill her obligations to the school. She also teaches music and requires the use of her flute to do so. The loss of her instrument has significantly affected her personally and she would be grateful to anyone who facilitates its return.”
