The District Attorney’s Office and Attorney General’s Office Gun Violence Task Force have charged Frankford man William Santore, 24, for allegedly straw purchasing two handguns for a man he would only identify as “Fat Cat.”

Prosecutors said the investigation touched off on April 16, when police arrested Jonathan Sanchez for alleged burglary and firearm violations and recovered from his possession a .40 caliber Steyr semi-automatic handgun.

Officials said an investigation by the Gun Violence Task Force revealed that Santore purchased that handgun, along with a 9mm Astra semi-automatic handgun, from a Philadelphia gun store on March 26.

After agreeing to be interviewed, Santore allegedly admitted to buying the guns for a man he would identify only as “Fat Cat.”

Authorities said though Santore admitted to knowing Sanchez, he said the guns weren’t for him.

Santore is accused of lying on the gun purchase paperwork by stating he was buying the handguns for himself and he was not a user of illegal narcotics.

Sanchez is currently jailed on $150,000 bail. He is next due in court for a preliminary hearing on May 9.

Santore was still being processed by police Monday morning and was expected to be arraigned sometime Monday afternoon.

Prosecutors said he’ll be charged with numerous violations of the Uniform Firearms Act, tampering with public records, unsworn falsification to authorities and conspiracy.

The 9mm Astra has not yet been recovered, according to investigators.
