City makes it official: bike share starts May 27
The long-awaited NYC Bike Share launches on Memorial Day, the city’s Department of Transportation officially announced Thursday.
Annual Citi Bike members who sign up for the $95 membership before May 17 can begin using the system of 6,000 bikes in Manhattan south of 59th Street and parts of Brooklyn on May 27, according to the city.
Daily and weekly memberships, costing $9.95 and $25, respectively, will begin a week later on June 2, the city said.
Eventually, city officials said, the program will have 10,000 bikes spread across 600 locations in the city.
