Shots fired after Dorchester crash
A man was recovering after allegedly being shot by a security guard while trying to leave the scene of a car crash in Dorchester, Boston police said.
The incident took place around 8 p.m. Monday at the Harbor Point apartment complex. The driver, Leroy Wiggins aka Chris Summers, 40, appeared to be passed out in a vehicle, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
When he was approached by two security guards, “Wiggins allegedly accelerated, striking multiple cars including one with a small child,” a statement for the D.A.’s office said.
The suspect then drove away, but was pursued onto Mt. Vernon Street by the guards.
“He might have used his car as a weapon,” BPD Superintendent William Evans told WCVB-TV. “The suspect in the vehicle came at the security officer with his vehicle, and as a result one shot was fired at the motor vehicle.”
Wiggins suffered a “very minor, possibly graze wound,” Evans told the Boston Globe. He was expected to be arraigned Tuesday on charges related to the crash.
