The MBTA will open two new commuter rail stations in Dorchester — at Four Corners/Geneva Avenue and Newmarket, adjacent to the South Bay shopping center — next month, WBUR reports.

The Four Corners / Geneva Commuter Rail Station will be located on the Fairmont line between Washington Street and Geneva Avenue about 3.5 miles from South Station in Dorchester, while the Newmarket Station will also be on the Fairmont line, located just north of the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge, says the MBTA.

The T will also make the train more accessible to the public by bringing down fares so they are similar to those for subway and bus customers.

According to the MBTA website, the Four Corners station will consist of 800-foot-long high-level platforms in order to facilitate direct platform-to-coach boarding. The platforms will include detectable warning strips, new canopies, passenger shelters, benches/windscreens, wayfinding signage, a train approach warning system and variable message signs. The station will also be equipped with video surveillance cameras, police emergency call box systems and public telephones. There will also be off street drop-off/pick-up areas with minimal parking located adjacent to the Washington Street and Geneva Avenue entrances.

The Newmarket station will have many of the similar features, however drop-off/pick-up areas are not part of the design.

Both locations are expected to be available for use on July 1.
