Delaware State Police on Tuesday arrested a Middletown man for allegedly throwing bodily fluid on a female customer at a Wilton Boulevard Walmart in New Castle.

Investigators said a 20-year-old woman was at 3:30 p.m. standing in a store aisle using her phone when a man walked by her and she felt a liquid thrown onto her leg.

The woman looked down and saw bodily fluid running down her thigh and calf, according to authorities.

The suspect allegedly followed the woman as she walked through the store.

Police said she eventually found two Walmart employees, who took her to a secure location inside the store and called police.

Arriving troopers said they identified the man who allegedly threw the bodily fluid as Frank Short Jr., 22.

He was taken into custody Tuesday without incident.

Short was taken to Troop 2 and charged with offensive touching with bodily fluid, harassment, lewdness and disorderly conduct.

He was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institute on $2,500 cash and $4,000 secured bail.

Cpl. John Day said as of Wednesday, authorities had not yet determined exactly what substance the fluid was.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.

Day said after interviewing Short, troopers became concerned he may have victimized other people.

Police are asking anyone else who may have been the target of a similar act to come forward

Anyone with information about the crime, or who thinks they have also been a victim, is asked to call Troop 2 at 302-834-2620, ext. 571.
