Motorcyclist seriously injured in Delaware crash
A motorcyclist was injured Saturday morning during a crash just outside of Seaford.
Delaware State Police said Joseph Thomas, 65, was riding a 2012 Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Concord Pond Road when, around 10:40 a.m., the motorcycle left the east side of the roadway for an undetermined reason.
The motorcycle plunged into a ditch but stayed upright, traveling north for several hundred feet, according to investigators.
Authorities said the motorcycle then began to leave the ditch, ejecting Thomas, who was not wearing a helmet.
When Thomas landed, his head struck a roadside utility box.
Thomas, of Georgetown, was rushed to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, then airlifted to Christiana Hospital, where he was admitted with a serious head injury.
Concord Pond Road was closed for about two hours Saturday as troopers investigated and cleared the crash.
