Boston Police say they are “very close” to determining who kidnapped and murdered 24-year-old South Boston resident Amy Lord last week.

“The investigation has been very intense over the weekend. We worked around the clock on various pieces of evidence and I would characterize this investigation as ‘very close,’” Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 Monday.

Officials will hold a community meeting on Monday evening at Tynan Elementary School on East Fourth Street in South Boston to discuss the latest news and address safety concerns. Representatives from the Boston Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police, DEA and Probation Department will be in attendance.

Other police officials displayed the same confidence as Davis, but still asked that anyone who may have information to come forward.

“It’s progressing very well. … I’m confident we’re headed in the right direction,” Boston Police Superintendent William Evans told the Boston Globe on Sunday. “I think we’re getting real close. … Anyone who might have seen something, we want them to come forward. Every little tidbit helps.”

Lord was kidnapped on Tuesday morning after leaving her Southie apartment to head to the gym. She was found dead in Stony Brook Reservation in Hyde Park.

Lord’s wake will be held Monday in Springfield, followed by a funeral service Tuesday in Wilbraham.
