South Boston to hold public safety forum in wake of Amy Lord slaying
As South Boston awaits the arrest of whoever is behind the gruesome slaying of a 24-year-old woman, city officials want to inform residents about how to stay safe.
Local and federal officials, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, will host a meeting Monday night to discuss the stabbing death of Amy Lord, who was killed last week.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Tynan Cafeteria on East Fourth Street, and will be open to South Boston residents.
“We are all affected by the murder of Amy Lord and the series of unwarranted and hideous acts of violence in our community,” said Rep. Nick Collins. “We want the entire community at large to know that the collective resources from every office and every department will be brought to bear to increase the public’s safety and awareness.”
On Saturday, community members gathered at St. Vincent’s Church in remembrance of Lord.
