Celebrity appearances, artist meet-and-greets, a film festival, collector items, a costume contest and an art auction are all on tap for the seventh annual Boston Comic Con at Seaport World Trade Center this weekend.

“This year we have more artists, collectors, vendors and fans registered for Boston Comic Con than ever before,” said Boston Comic Con founder Nick Kanieff. “With two days of action-packed events and meet-and-greet opportunities, we are looking forward to the most exciting and successful convention yet.”

Laurie Holden of “The Walking Dead,” Kristin Bauer of “True Blood,” and Aidan Turner and Dean O’Gorman of “The Hobbit,” as well as more than 200 well-known and local guest comic book creators and merchants from across the Northeast are expected to attend.

Voice actor Billy West, whose decades-long career has included providing the voices for beloved toons like Doug, Ren and Stimpy, and nearly all the characters in “Futurama,” is also expected to make an appearance. (Candy lovers might also recognize him as the voice of the debonair red M&M.) West got his start in Boston in the early 1980s performing daily comedic routines on Boston WBCN’s “The Big Mattress Show.”

The event also features a two-day film festival which will showcase features and shorts from local and national independent filmmakers on Saturday and zombie-themed films on Sunday, a costume contest hosted by cosplay favorite Yaya Han and a two-day Magic The Gathering tournament.

On Saturday night from 5 to 7 p.m., Boston Comic Con will feature a Comic Book Art Auction, which will donate a portion of its proceeds to The One Fund, in support of Boston Marathon victims, and The Mike Wieringo Scholarship for aspiring comic book artists studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

The popular event was originally scheduled to take place in April in the Back Bay, but was rescheduled due to the Boston Marathon bombings.

“Since having to reschedule the Boston Comic Convention after the Boston Marathon, we have received an overwhelming amount of support from our all our fans,” said Kanieff. “We are honored to have the opportunity to help give back to the city of Boston and the young aspiring comic book artists in our community.”

Tickets for Boston Comic Con are available online and at the door. Saturday’s events run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Tickets for either Saturday or Sunday’s events are $25; a weekend pass is $40.

On Wednesday, Boston Comic Con, Dick’s Last Resort and Newbury Comics will team up for the first pre-convention Boston Comic Con Costume Contest, being held at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Contestants of all ages are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero, comic book character and beyond — as long as they’re family friendly. The contest will kick off with a costume parade around Quincy Market, beginning and ending at Dick’s Last Resort.

Prizes for first, second and third place will be awarded. First place will receive two weekend passes to Boston Comic Con and a limited-edition T-shirt; second place will walk away with a $100 gift certificate to Dick’s Last Resort; and third place will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Newbury Comics.
