Boston Magazine releases more photos from Tsarnaev capture
Boston Magazine has released the remaining photographs leaked to the publication that show scenes from the night alleged Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured in Watertown, Mass.
In some photographs, the 19-year-old terror suspect, who was arrested on April 19, is seen falling from the side of the boat and onto the ground. One of the pictures shows heavily armed officers hovering over Tsarnaev as they hold him down and give medical treatment.
All the photographs were contributed by Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Sean Murphy, who came under fire in July for leaking similar photos taken on the night of Tsarnaev’s capture.
Murphy said he released the images in response to the August issue of Rolling Stone magazine, which featured Tsarnaev on the cover looking, in Murphy’s opinion, “fluffed and buffed.” The 25-year veteran was put on restricted duty, then transferred to the state police barracks in Athol.
The photographs also show local, state and federal law enforcement officials working behind-the-scenes during the standoff.
