Fort Point man adds second American flag to window despite warnings
The Fort Point man who previously refused to take down the 6-by-10-foot American flag in his condo window has added a second flag, claiming the situation to be a “freedom issue.”
“Freedom is getting lost,” Mark DiGiovanni told the Boston Herald. “To me, it’s really about freedom.”
The condo association previously told DiGiovanni that they would implement a $25-a-day fine for each day he doesn’t take down the flag, which contradicts the building’s policy of white curtains.
“Who cares what is in my window?” DiGiovanni said. “Maybe it’s a little too pedestrian for them. I guess they have a bunch of fancy people living there.”
But those in charge at the condo association made it clear that DiGiovanni knew the rules when he moved in, but chose to break them anyway.
“He’s trying to rile people up with his fake patriotism,” condo trustee Sean McGrail previously told the Herald. “When he bought it, the condo documents were very clear. In my opinion, he doesn’t want to hear ‘no.’ ”
