Student found dead at Villanova University identified

UPDATE: The student found dead this morning at a dorm room in Sullivan Hall at Villanova University has been identified as female sophomore Kinara Patel.

Radnor Township Police in a press conference today said Patel was out last night with friends in Bryn Mawr and returned some time overnight. A friend was in the room with her, police said.

There are no signs of foul play and police said there were no indications it was a suicide. Alcohol may have played a part. Police said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released tomorrow.

Patel is from North Jersey.

Original story: An undergraduate student was found dead this morning in a Sullivan Hall room at Villanova University, media outlets are reporting.

The student has yet to be identified by school officials. According to NBC10, officials are waiting for the Delaware County Medical Examiner.

In an email to students, Vice President for Student Life Fr. John Stack said:  ”All of us here at Villanova are saddened to learn of this tragedy and extend our deepest sympathy and prayers to family and friends of this student.”

Classes are set to begin Monday.

A briefing on the student’s death will be held by Radnor Township Police at 4 p.m. today.
