Four injured in crash causing scaffolding collapse near United Nations
Four people were injured during a crash that caused scaffolding to collapse at an intersection near the United Nations Thursday afternoon.
Around 2:50 p.m., a yellow cab collided with a Nissan Pathfinder at E. 42nd Street and First Avenue, propelling the SUV into scaffolding that then collapsed, officials said.
At least one pedestrian was injured by the scaffolding, officials said. The unidentified pedestrian was transported to Bellevue and was in stable condition after the crash.
The taxi driver and a passenger were also taken to Bellevue and were reported in stable condition.
The driver of the SUV was taken to New York Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital and treated for neck and back injuries.
