Easton teen facing charges in crash that killed teacher’s spouse
An Easton teenager is in Taunton District Court on Monday facing charges in the deadly crash that killed the husband of a teacher at his school.
Colin O’Hearne, 17, struck and killed George Power, 71, and his dog as they walked on Labor Day. Power’s wife is a teacher at O’Hearne’s high school.
Easton Police Chief Allen Krajcik told the Brockton Enterprise that O’Hearne will face charges of operating negligently with a death resulting, speeding and failure to stay in marked lanes.
The incident took place on a dangerous strip of Summer Street in Easton. The area has been known for accidents, including a serious one in 2012 where a driver was pulled from a burning car before it exploded.
“People need to slow down when they are driving, they need to drive the speed limit and pay attention,” Fire Chief Kevin Partridge told the Enterprise.
O’Hearne has retuned to his studies at Oliver Ames High School, and participated in Friday’s Senior Field Day festivities.
