School bus driver accused of texting behind the wheel
A Boston Public Schools bus driver is under fire for allegedly texting while driving during the morning commute.“The operator has been removed from service pending the outcome of the investigation,” BPS spokesman Brian Ballou told the Boston Herald about the driver, who was transporting students to the Tobin School in Roxbury.
A Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences student first noticed the offense while waiting to use lab equipment on Tuesday morning.
“I saw the bus slowly moving along because there was the light ahead and traffic had stopped,” Kroll told the Herald. “I saw the driver using his phone the entire time he was in my sight. From the moment he crawled to a stop to when he started moving again as traffic moved. I wouldn’t have had so much issue with it if it wasn’t for the fact that there were (four or five) young children onboard the bus.”
Kroll first reported the texting on Twitter, and was contacted by the school system through the social media website.
