The suspect in the Salem State University shuttle bus stabbings was arrested in New York State on Wednesday night.

Timothy Wells, 25, of Woburn was arrested after his car broke down along the Taconia Parkway, according to Salem State spokeswoman Karen Cady. She told the Boston Herald that when cops went to help Wells, they discovered he was wanted in Massachusetts in connection with the stabbings.

Wells will most likely be charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and two counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, the article continues.

Wells allegedly attacked a woman on a university shuttle bus on Wednesday. When the driver came to the woman’s aid, Wells stabbed him as well.

Both victims suffered only superficial injuries, according to Cady. The shuttle bus driver has been lauded for his quick thinking during a tense situation.

Wells is a former Salem State student who was placed on leave a couple weeks ago.
