A new program is working to encourage travelers to embrace healthy habits while jetting in and out of Boston.

Launched last week in time for the holiday season, the yearlong Strides for Health initiative includes designated walking paths and health stations for passengers in terminals A, B and C at Logan Airport.

“While you are waiting for your flight, why not put that extra time to good use?” said Dr. Juliet Nimako, a primary care physician at Steward Health Care. “Experts agree that as little as 30 minutes of brisk walking several days a week can have a positive impact on your health.”

In addition to the walking paths, health evaluations are offered at the stations including blood pressure monitoring and BMI (Body Mass Index) tests.

Airport fitness offerings are booming throughout the country. Locations like Chicago’s O’Hare allow travelers to purchase day passes to gyms, while spots like Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas and Burlington International Airport in Vermont offer yoga rooms for travelers looking to de-stress.

The program at Logan Airport is a partnership between Massport and Steward Health Care.
