Murder charge officially brought in Beau Zabel’s slaying
The man police say is responsible for the 2008 slaying of Beau Zabel has officially been charged with his murder, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office announced today.
Marcellus Jones, 35, was also charged with conspiracy, robbery, VUFA, theft, receiving stolen property and possession of an instrument of crime.
Zabel had moved to Philadelphia just six weeks before he was gunned down for his iPod in South Philadelphia as he walked home from his shift at Starbucks. He had moved from Minnesota to teach math in the city.
Jones is presently serving a life sentence without parole for a 2012 murder in which he killed an accomplice in the Zabel murder, reports say.
His next court appearance is Dec. 18.
