Three Boston police officers hurt in crash while responding to call
Three Boston police officers were hurt when another car slammed into their cruiser as they were responding to a call about a shooting.
The car crash happened about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ashmont Street and Dorchester Avenue in Dorchester, police said.
After receiving a call about shots fired in Roxbury, the officers, who were working undercover for the department’s gang unit, activated the cruiser’s lights and sirens to respond to the call. That’s when they were hit by another driver.The three officers and two people in the other car were all taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. It was not immediately clear if the driver was cited or charged.
At the Roxbury scene, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said they arrested the shooter and recovered a gun.
