Brockton man claims he spotted missing N.H. teen Abigail Hernandez in online video

A Brockton man tipped off authorities to an online video, which he believes contains a clue about missing Conway teen Abigail Hernandez, The Brockton Enterprise reported.

New Hampshire authorities are looking into the matter after the man, whose identity has not been released, contacted the newspaper Friday night saying he believed he saw a girl who “looked exactly like Abigail Hernandez. It could have been her twin sister.”

Conway Police Sgt. Russ McLauchlan confirmed the information, and said “It’s an ongoing investigation and we are working on every lead and tip we receive.”

Authorities say a letter that Hernandez sent to her mother last month is a “critical lead” in the girl’s disappearance.

Officials announced Friday that Abigail, who was last seen Oct. 9 in Conway, N.H., wrote a letter to her mother dated Oct. 22 and mailed it the next day. Her mother received it Nov. 6 and turned it over to investigators.

“It is one of the most tangible leads we had in the investigation,” Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane E. Young said Friday, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. “We are concerned for her safety. She is not out there alone.”
