Arabic woman suspected of multiple attempted robberies, police say
A woman dressed in “Arabic garb” attempted to rob two stores early yesterday with a ransom note, but did’t take any money on the first attempt and failed the second, police said.
The first attempt occurred around 12:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on the 3300 Aramingo Avenue, police said. The woman, described by police as “Arabic…dressed in black garb covering her face,” walked up to the clerk and handed him a note which demanded money from the register.
The employee apparently put the register drawer on the counter, and the suspect grabbed the demand note and fled the store without taking any money.
An hour later, at 1:30 a.m., she entered a Dunkin Donuts on the 3501 Aramingo. She again handed the clerk a note which demanded money from the register. The cashier hit the panic button, ran into the closet, locked the door and called the police.
The women then fled in an unknown direction.
The woman is described as a 130-pound, 5-foot-2-inch “Arabic female” dressed in dark Muslim garb covering her face, gray peacoat and blue jeans.
Police said to submit a tip via telephone, dial 215.686.TIPS (8477), or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847.
