A cat hoarder living in the Philadelphia mansion formerly belonging to Hollywood actress Grace Kelly was barred from owning animals for four years and fined $10,800, the office of District Attorney Seth Williams announced on Thursday.

Marjory Baumont, 82, who has resided in Kelly’s former home in East Falls since 1973, was discovered to be illegally hoarding cats in late October.

Baumont was convicted on 16 counts of animal cruelty.

The PSCPA received a tip about inhumane conditions on Oct. 29. When a PSPCA officer visited Baumont’s home, she opened the door and saw the remains of a dead cat.

At that point the PSPCA secured a warrant to raid the home. On Oct. 31 they recovered 14 cats, one dog and the remains of one cat. Baumont was taken to Einstein Medical Center to undergo psychiatric evaluation.

Conditions inside the former screen star’s home were unsanitary, with fleas and feces everywhere in the rooms where the cats were housed. Many of the cats were malnourished and in need of medical care, and the dog was also in poor condition.

All were brought to a PSPCA shelter to receive medical care.

The PSPCA had received complaints about possible animal cruelty at this home for years but did not previously have sufficient evidence to investigate.

Baumont was ordered to pay $10,000 restitution to the PSPCA and $800 in fines, $50 for each cat.
