VIDEO: Police seek suspects in East Oak Lane robberies

Philadelphia police are hunting for a man they say is responsible for multiple gunpoint robberies at Family Dollar in East Oak Lane last week.

An employee at the store, located at 6337 N. Broad St., took the gun away from the suspect in the first robbery.

The suspect is described as black, about 35 years old, 5 feet 8 inches  tall and 140 to 160 pounds. He was unshaven and wore sunglasses, a dark knit hat, a blue jacket with tan sleeves, blue jeans and tan boots at the time of the first robbery. He wore similar clothing during the second robbery, but swapped the blue jacket for  a red one with a white “C” on it.

The first robbery occurred Dec. 13 about 9:15 p.m., police said. It was during this robbery that a Family Dollar employee took a handgun from the suspect, who entered the store, waited for all customers leave and pulled the gun on the employee while demanding cash.

The second robbery occurred Dec. 15 just before 10 p.m. The suspect was accompanied by a second person, who served as a lookout, on this occasion. The suspect again pointed a handgun at a store employee, this time stealing $142 and 40 packs of Newport cigarettes.

The lookout is described as a light-skinned black male, about 25 years old, 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds. He had on a black North Face coat, with a red, hooded jacket underneath, dark jeans and red sneakers.

Police ask anyone with information about the robberies to call the Northwest Detectives Division at 215-686-3354/3354.
