Power outage forces Villanova to close rest of week
Villanova University will be closed the rest of the week due to a campus-wide power outage following the ice storm Wednesday morning.
The decision to close the school the rest of the week came after PECO informed officials it anticipated an extended power outage in the region, 6ABC Action News reports. The school had initially decided to close Wednesday.
The closure includes Villanova Law School.
Villanova is asking students who can do so to head home until power and heat are restored. Remaining students are able to go to Dougherty Hall, which has power from an emergency generator.
Hundreds of thousands of Delaware Valley electricity customers were left without power by the ice storm, which dropped as much as a half-inch of ice in some areas. PECO reported more than 600,000 outages at one point Wednesday.
