An 18-year-old woman’s purse was snatched Monday in Ogontz by a man who followed her out of a store and police are seeking help identifying the suspect.

Northwest Detectives are seeking the suspect, who can be seen in surveillance footage at a store where he sighted the female victim before reportedly following her outside.

Police say on Monday, Feb. 10 at  4 p.m., the suspect followed the woman out of a store heading east on the 2100 block of Chelten Avenue.

The suspect allegedly walked up behind the victim, grabbed her bag from her left shoulder and knocked her to the ground before fleeing on foot.

The suspect was last seen heading north on the 6400 block of Norwood Street.

The suspect is described as a black male, about 5’8″ and 200 pounds with a scruffy beard, wearing a black skull cap and a blue hooded “Giants” sweatshirt.

Anyone with any information about this suspect should call Northwest Detectives at 215-686-3353.
