The city plans to roll out a more inclusive strategy for its free condom distribution program, releasing a larger-sized option this summer.

The Department of Health unveiled its new extra-large Kyng Condom on Friday, as well as its new design for the more average-sized condom wrapper.

In its announcement, the Health Department said the new size and look — which more prominently features the LifeStyle brand to indicate its retail quality — came about after more than 600 events held over the last year.

The previous condom design served the city well for the last five years, the NYC-branded condom program itself having been launched on Valentine’s Day 2007.

The health department said it distributes about 38 million free condoms every year at some 3,500 locations citywide, including hospitals, clinics, senior centers, barbershops, bars and clubs.

“We anticipate that New Yorkers will love the new look and appreciate the new size option,” said newly appointed Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett. “These high-quality condoms will help all New Yorkers protect themselves and their partners.”

New Yorkers can find their nearest spot to grab a free condoms on the health department website or with its Condom Finder app.
