Police shoot, injure knife-wielding Brooklyn woman
Police officers shot and injured a suicidal Brooklyn woman after she reportedly lunged at them with a knife on Saturday.
A relative of the suspect reportedly called 911 when the woman, 35, threatened to kill herself. Officers were let in to the home at around 2:35 p.m., where the found the woman in a bedroom.
Authorities said she leapt at the officers with a 15-inch knife as soon as they approached her, which prompted an officer to shoot the suspect.
The New York Daily News reported that the woman was shot in the back after she knocked an officer to the ground.
Police say she was still in stable condition at Kings County Hospital early Sunday afternoon.
Two officers were also treated after the incident. One officer was taken to Methodist Hospital for back injuries. A second officer was evaluated at Kings County Hospital.
Investigators, who recovered three knives from the scene, said the investigation was ongoing.
