With multiple cases of measles reported in Framingham, authorities have confirmed that the threat of exposure has been expanded to a local restaurant.

Late Tuesday evening, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health announced that “a confirmed case of measles was [at Samba on Route 9] while infectious on Feb. 15 between the hours of 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m.”

That confirmed case is an employee of the Framingham Trader Joe’s store, who went to Samba Steak and Sushi to eat during that specific time span, the DPH told WCVB. The other confirmed case is a Bose employee who lives in Spencer.

On their company Facebook page, Samba restaurant confirmed the incident but asked for continued support.

“Samba under fire with all news station here. Need very strong supports from every on,” the post reads.

On Tuesday, a notice was placed at the Framingham Trader Joe’s store, which was originally determined to be the location where people risked exposure to the contagious disease.

“This is to inform you that a confirmed case of measles was in this building while infectious on February 15 and 16, 2014,” the statement reads. “The Framingham Board of Health is working closely with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to notify those who are at risk.”

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health describes measles as an acute disease characterized by fever, cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis, red rashes and mouth lesions.  Anyone who believes they may have come in contact with the disease should contact their physician immediately.
