Boston-spawned big band singer Brian Evans, whose online hit “At Fenway” went viral last year, is making a play for the United States Senate.

“BRIAN EVANS makes it official. “At Fenway” singer running for US Senate. See: http://brian4senate.us/ #hawaii #redsox #magov #vote #boston,” the Haverhill native tweeted Thursday.

On his campaign website, Evans writes of his upset with the current state of Hawaii’s political terrain.

“I’m running because I, just like you, am sick of not knowing anything at all about what this government is doing. And if we don’t stand up and make ourselves heard, then we are part of the problem,” states Evans.

“At Fenway” features “Star Trek” actor William Shatner, and includes lyrics like, “No matter where you sit, you’re in heaven for a little bit,” and depicts Shatner as an umpire on game day.

Ernie Boch Jr. makes a cameo as the Boston manger, and appears to argue with a sweaty Shatner over a large strike zone.

It has had nearly 12 million views in the past year.
