The committee to create a memorial for the victims of last year’s deadly building collapse at 22nd and Market streets will unveil a preliminary concept at a community meeting Tuesday, and will also seek input from residents.

“Now that the Salvation Army has agreed to transfer the site of its former thrift store at 22nd and Market to the City, the volunteer 22nd and Market Memorial Committee will present concepts for the planned memorial park, designed to pay tribute to the six people who were killed in the building collapse there on June 5, 2013,” says a press release sent out by the building collapse memorial committee.

The group, which has been fundraising for the memorial with an Indiegogo campaign, will unveil its concept and seek community input at the meeting scheduled for Tuesday evening. Community members will have a chance to questions and provide their ideas about how the memorial should be designed.

Among those speaking at this event will be the committee co-chairs and parents of victim Anne Bryan, John White and Nancy Winkler, as well as Harris Steinberg of the University of Pennsylvania School of Design, and Scott Aker, an architecture graduate student at the University of Pennsylvania.

The meeting will take place Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia’s Thompson Hall, at 19 S. 22nd St.
