Manco & Manco Pizza owners arrested for tax evasion
Charles and Mary Bangle, the husband and wife owners of Manco & Manco Pizza, a staple pizza joint with headquarters in Ocean City, were arrested today at their Atlantic County, N.J. home on tax evasion charges.
Charles, 54, and his wife, 53, bought controlling interest of the pizza chain in 2011. Officials say the couple face a 30-count indictment with charges ranging from conspiracy to evade income taxes, income tax invasion for a five-year period and making false statements to the IRS, reports the South Jersey Times.
According to the indictment, the Bangles allegedly skimmed cash from Manco & Manco. It’s alleged that Charles deposited that money into their personal bank account that they used to pay for personal expenditures. Reports say the couple is accused of concealing more than $980,000 in income from federal officials.
They face a potential penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
