One of New York City’s most iconic eateries will open its famous double doors once again.

The famous Central Park restaurant Tavern on the Green will once again welcome diners on Thursday, April 24 after its closure in January 2010.

With help from the city’s Parks Department and the Department of Design and Construction, the building underwent a complete renovation, including the restoration of some of its original Victorian Gothic facades.

In 2012, the city awarded the space at Central Park West and West 66th Street to Philadelphia-based restaurateurs Jim Caiola and David Salama.

Along with executive chef Katy Sparks, the relaunched and reimagined Tavern on the Green’s plates range anywhere from $15 for wood-roasted Japanese eggplant to $54 for Prime New York strip steak.

The restaurant is already taking reservations on its website, but is all booked up for its big debut this week. Currently open between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m., the owners hope to launch its brunch and lunch menus in May.

In its heyday, the restaurant spanned almost 22,000 square feet and brimmed with vintage crystal chandeliers and opulent tchotchkes — all of which was auctioned off soon after its closure to pay off the restaurant’s $8 million debt.
