UPDATE: Ayvani Hope Perez has been found alive, Georgia police said Wednesday. Read the full story here.

Metro’s original story is below.

Just hours after 14-year-old Ayvani Hope Perez was kidnapped during a terrifying home invasion, friends and community members have turned to Twitter and Facebook in an effort to spread the word and bring her to safety.

Police said two armed robbers broke into the family’s Atlanta-area home about 2 a.m. Tuesday. They demanded money and jewelry from Perez’s mother. When she told the thugs she didn’t have any, they shot the family dog and forced Ayvani from the closet where she was hiding before fleeing from the home in a gray Dodge.

Police issued an Amber alert soon after the incident and indicated Ayvani is “believed to be in extreme danger.” The FBI and Georgia Bureau of Investigation are also involved in the investigation.

Ayvani is described as 4 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 93 pounds. She was last seen wearing “Star Wars” pajama pants and a superhero sweatshirt.

A Facebook page titled Please BRING Ayvani Hope Perez HOME SAFE has already been launched with photos of the teen and police sketches of the suspects, which were released about noon Tuesday.

“Prayers are up for her safety, and return home, prayers for her Mother and Family,” a Facebook follower posted.

On Twitter, too, her Amber alert is spreading.

“#moms #dads retweet/share Amber Alert: Girl, 14, kidnapped in Ga. home invasion,” user @CrazyDadLife tweeted.
