One young woman was shocked when she learned that her Secret Santa this year is none other than billionaire Bill Gates. A young woman named Rachel signed up for Reddit Gifts, a Secret Santa for strangers on the Internet, and put items like nail polish and makeup on her wish list. She never expected that Bill Gates would be the recipient of her list.

I did not realize my Santa was Mr. Bill Gates himself until very far into this,” she wrote. “Here’s my ‘journey’ of discovery, sorry for the length but I thought many might be interested.” Rachel wrote on Reddit Gifts that she received notification on Monday that her gift had been shipped and that it weighed seven pounds.

When Rachel tore through her package, she discovered several things: a stuffed animal, a card from “Bill,” a certificate for the non-profit Heifer International and a travel book called “Journeys of a Lifetime.” The certificate stated that the giver had donated a cow to a family in need, a $500 value on Heifer International. The package also came with a photo – a photo of Bill Gates with the Christmas note.

“Time out,” she wrote. “And then it finally hit me. All the presents I just tore open, the charity, then everything – was from Bill GATES.”

Rachel said she was ecstatic to receive the gifts. “I feel SO shocked and excited that not only did I receive a gift from Bill, but it was perfectly and EXACTLY tuned into my interests,” she wrote. “My gosh, what a rush!”

Gates is a major supporter of Heifer International, which connects donors with poor families who could benefit from farm animals.
