Letter: GMO business is booming, and so are our fears
Re: ‘Take a kinder look at good ol’ GMOs’ (Metro, Sept. 16)
Letter writers Matt Bronsan and Kelton Barnsley prepared a great case to alleviate fears concerning GMOs in Metro.
I also believe the future of feeding 8 billion people resides in the science of genetic modifications. My fear is in the “business” of biotech patents and not the production of crops.
Monsanto’s genetically modified corn seed is proprietary merchandise controlling almost 90 percent of all corn crops grown in this country.
Farmers aren’t allowed to regrow previously harvested seeds, but are forced to buy new GM seeds every year!
This system of legalized agricultural racketeering will be more harmful than any GMO ever created.
