Letter: Philippines need your help
Re: ‘Help victims of typhoon’ (Metro, Nov. 12)
I would like to thank Frederick R. Beddell Jr. for his letter regarding the current plight of Filipinos after typhoon Yolanda. I was born and raised in the Philippines, and lived there until I came here in the U.S. almost 26 years ago. It is heart-wrenching for me to watch videos and photos of the typhoon’s aftermath, of dead bodies covered in debris floating along the shores of Leyte and Samar.
Filipinos are known for their resiliency and cheerfulness, so much so that even after a natural disaster, they still manage to smile and be hopeful. If readers would say a prayer for the victims and survivors so that they may be granted the strength and determination to overcome the hardships they have to deal with, the Filipino people will be forever grateful.
