Letter: History ‘lesson’ a bunch of Bull
Re: ‘A reversal of roles’ (Metro, Nov. 25)
In his letter, Dean Vigliano correctly admonishes a previous letter writer for attributing to southern Republicans the blocking of civil rights in the South in the 1960s, rather than the true obstructionists — the Southern Democrats. However, Vigliano then references the notorious Bull Connor as having been the police chief of Birmingham, Ala.
“Get the facts straight,” says Vigliano. But Connor was the commissioner of public safety, whereas Jamie Moore was police commissioner of Birmingham throughout the entire 1960s. I just love irony.
