Letter: Have you lost your sense of decency, Metro?
Re: ‘Top pop culture moments of 2013’ (Metro, Dec. 16)
I get that your entertainment pages aim for a funny, snarky tone, but I thought some of the commentators for your “Top pop culture moments in 2013” piece crossed the line from clever to offensive regarding the deaths of Paul Walker and Cory Monteith.
Rachel Vigoda’s pithy “Did anyone actually care about Paul Walker?” ignores both his fans and the daughter he left behind, while Tina Chadha’s “the world lost a really pretty face” is obnoxiously shallow.
Meredith Engel praises Cory Monteith’s “sweet voice” and “piercing eyes” but then references Lea Michele “beard[ing]” for him, a bizarre and ill-conceived attempt at gay rumormongering that flies in the face of “Glee”’s anti-bullying, pro-LGBT stance.
Have some decency, people.
