Letter: Turn up the heat, Foreman
Re: ‘Apocalypse snow’ (Metro, Feb. 14-17)
Columnist Tom Foreman must be frozen in a myopic East Coast cave. His piece bringing up questions about global warming due to the winter in the Midwest and eastern United States certainly misses the fact the West Coast is experiencing a record drought, Australia was on fire due to the hottest summer ever and Brazil was having terrible heat waves. I guess he doesn’t watch sports either, as he may have seen film of Olympians sunning in the 66-degree temperatures in Sochi where they’re holding the WINTER Olympics.
Add it all up, and the world has actually been warmer this past year than any year prior. Even with the current cold start in North America, this year won’t change the fact the world is overall a warmer place than it’s been. Just because mega energy companies can hire fleets of fact-fudgers to question the veracity of a vast preponderance of science, doesn’t mean he has to buy into it. Sadly, he’s right, though, in that all the heat made by energy company flacks will effect any Congressional action to help us. It’s too bad he had to pile on in a pique of cabin fever.
