An overnight fire damaged the iconic circular building referred to by many as the 'spaceship' in LOVE Park, technically known as the Fairmount Park Welcome Center.

Damage at The Welcome Center, which is a place where tourists can get directions, pick up brochures and buy tickets for local attractions is still being assessed, but fire officials say the fire was minor.

Fire crews responded to the scene at approximately 3 a.m. after internal fire alarms after several 911 calls and a fire alarm went off in the building, according to 6ABC.

Fire crews found a fire in a ventilation unit and brought it under control in about 15 minutes. Several windows were broken for ventilation.

Operators of food trucks that operate near the building are telling customers on social media they don't think they'll be able to get there today.
