One married couple took their kids beachcombing for more than just shells over the holiday weekend.

Police on the Jersey Shore announced Monday that they had collared a Philly couple for stealing from beachgoers' bags.

On the 4th of July, North Wildwood police officers arrested husband-and-wife duo Kelly Costanzo, 36, and Larry Hall, 39, after several beachgoers accused them of stealing items from handbags.

Two North Wildwood police officers responded to the beach around 2:12 p.m. for reports of a male and female stealing items from bags. As they arrived, North Wildwood Beach Patrol said they were flagged down by beachgoers who told them Costanzo was nearby at 18th Avenue and Beach with her three kids, aged 12, 9 and 6.

Hall fled the area before police arrived and was located a few blocks away at Lincoln & Ocean avenues, in possession of $500 in cash and a cell phone stolen from the beach, police say.

Both Hall and Costanzo were arrested and charged with child endangerment and theft. Both were held in custody at Cape May County Correctional Center with bail set on Monday at $35,000 for Hall and $25,000 for Costanzo.

The New Jersey Department of Children and Families put the children in the custody of a relative.
