Despite fears that Tropical Storm Hermine would rain on our parade for the first day of Made in America, the weather turned out to be absolutely perfect. Early on in the day, fans learned that rock isn’t dead after experiencing the gritty, in-your-face hurricane that is Dorothy Martin — lead singer of the band, Dorothy. Miya Folick got the crowd going at the Tidal Stage, with a sound reminiscent of Sinead O’Connor and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Fans of Weezer and Arctic Monkeys found a new indie rock favorite in Car Seat Headrest and Justine Skye put on a full show at the Festival Stage — complete with sultry vocals and backup dancers.
